Russia cannot be defeated in any way: German Foreign Minister
The German Foreign Minister has commented that nuclear-armed Russia cannot be defeated in any way. He also suggested that the end of the Ukraine war should be resolved through talks, not force.

Meanwhile, there is a haze surrounding the Russia-Ukraine meeting to be held in Istanbul. Kiev has asked about Moscow’s proposal before the talks.
Various leading European countries have stood by Kiev from the beginning with military financial support in the Russia-Ukraine war. Countries have provided a large amount of weapons to resist Moscow in the war.
However, this time, Germany, one of the most powerful countries in Europe, is not confronting Russia on the battlefield, but rather respecting it. German Foreign Minister Johannes Vaudepol said that the end of the Russia-Ukraine war is possible only through diplomacy. In an interview, he said that it was clear from the beginning of the war that it was impossible to defeat nuclear-armed Russia.
The German Foreign Minister’s statement came at a time when Russian attacks on Ukraine are increasing. Kiev has ordered the evacuation of at least 200 settlements in 11 villages in the northern Sumy region.
On Saturday (May 31), Russian forces seized two more villages in the region. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that more than 50,000 Russian troops are deployed on the border, which indicates the start of a major ground operation. Amid the ongoing situation, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed that Russia has captured the villages of Novopil in Donetsk and Vodolahi in Sumy.
Meanwhile, Russia and Ukraine are returning to the peace talks table to end the war. A new round of talks is going to be held in Istanbul. Russian spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the conditions for a temporary ceasefire and safe navigation in the Black Sea will be important in the talks. Turkey’s Foreign Minister said that US President Donald Trump and Turkish President Erdogan may also participate in the meeting.
Trump was questioned by reporters just before the talks. Asked whether he supported the tough sanctions bill against Russia led by US Senators Lindsey Graham and Blumenthal, Trump said he was not yet aware of it. If passed, the bill would impose a 500 percent tariff on countries importing Russian energy products.
