Champions League Two killed, 500 arrested in France clashes after PSG win

Two people were killed and 192 injured in clashes during celebrations for the Champions League final in France. Police detained more than 500 people during the celebrations. The Interior Ministry reported this information on Sunday (June 1).

Clashes in Paris turned deadly after Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) beat Italian rivals Inter Milan to win the Champions League for the first time.

At least two people, including a 17-year-old, were killed in the riots, according to the latest reports in France.

As of Sunday morning, the Interior Ministry assessed that 559 people had been arrested across France. However, 491 people were arrested in the capital Paris alone.

The celebrations turned destructive after PSG’s first victory in the Champions League, according to the report. According to France 24, a man riding a scooter was killed after being hit by a car a few kilometers from the Champs-Elysees in Paris.

Meanwhile, in the southwestern city of Dax, a 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death during PSG’s victory celebration. The killer then fled.

PSG were set to hold a victory parade on the Champs-Elysees on Sunday after winning their first Champions League title.

However, violence broke out after celebrations continued into the night in Paris and other parts of the country.
