The derailment occurred at 9:45 pm on Wednesday (May 21) and was normalized around 2:30 am, said Joypurhat Railway Station Master Nahida Akhtar.

Earlier, due to the derailment of the train, train services across the country, including the Parbatipur-Santahar route, were suspended in Joypurhat, she said.

According to Joypurhat Railway Station sources, an oil train departing from Chittagong left Joypurhat Railway Station at around 9:30 pm. Shortly after, the train derailed a little north of the Puranapoil rail gate at around 9:45 pm. This halted train services in both directions with the district.

Later, a rescue train arrived and normalized the derailed train at around 2:30 am. Train movement in Erut has since returned to normal.
