Trump announces lifting of sanctions on Syria
US President Donald Trump announced the lifting of all sanctions on Syria. He made this announcement in a speech during his visit to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday (May 13).
Trump said that he took this decision on the advice of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Syria welcomed the US president’s announcement. After Trump’s announcement, the country began rejoicing.
On the other hand, the White House has indicated a meeting between Trump and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sarrah during his ongoing Saudi visit.
Earlier, the US imposed various sanctions on Syria during the rule of Bashar al-Assad. He was ousted from power last December.
