Licenses of seven telecom companies have been cancelled.

The telecommunications regulatory body BTRC has cancelled the PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) licenses of seven telecom companies that have expired. The company issued a notification in this regard on Tuesday.

The seven companies whose licenses have been cancelled are Telebarta Limited, Ranks Telecom Limited, National Telecom Ltd., Bangla Phone Limited, Westek Limited, Onetel Communication Limited and Integrated Service Limited.
The BTRC notification, mentioning the names of the seven companies, said that the licenses have been cancelled as expired due to the expiry of the license and the companies not applying for renewal.
Therefore, any activity carried out under the cancelled license will be illegal and a punishable offense under the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulation Act, 2001. In addition, instructions have been issued to submit the original certificate of the cancelled license to the commission and pay all dues (if any) to the commission within the next 30 days.
